Organic Influence Overseas

We continue to see organic icons in many product categories influencing home decor through color, material and pattern.

Bringing “The Outdoors, Indoors” is not just a trend these days, it’s a lifestyle. The connection to nature has never been stronger for most people, especially in times of such uncertainty throughout the world.

Traveling through Paris, London, Amsterdam and Frankfurt last week confirmed that in the coming year we will continue to see more products relating to and influenced by nature.

(IN)digo

Yes, Indigo is (still) IN!

This artisan vibe has found its way into the product market via accessories, tile, bedding and dinnerware just to name a few!
It’s familiar, it’s blue and the artisan technique is varied among products so it never looks matchy-matchy!

Indigo mixes well in interiors allowing you to curate a style that is unique to its own because many of these products are truly artisan made and bring a one of a kind vibe into your home.

Mix Match

Obsessed this season with tabletop…I know right? Who knew that dinnerware would become a fashion statement of mix and match!

Let’s face it, as of late we are all foodies, loving to cook, taste and create in the kitchen (or make reservations) regardless, the top of the table has never looked more creative due to pattern mixing.

We are seeing this at all levels of the market from high end like Hermes to more mass appeal at stores like Habitat, noted today in the U.K.!

Metallic rims and color application are continuing at the high end especially when paired with tones of blues. In many cases, patterns seem to be a bit imperfect and irregular giving the designs a more artisan vibe.

When your dinnerware patterns become the main focus of your table we tend to see more solid table linens trending due to the mix and match pattern approach.

Since texture (yes that T word) has been an area of focus in home products for many seasons, we are seeing linens with textured slubs or even printed textures trending.

Below are a few of my favorite finds from Hermes, Harrods, and Habitat…hoping to scope out a few more in London tomorrow before I head to Amsterdam on Thursday!

Continuing my crazy 4 city trip in 8 days.

Merci…have you been?

Have you been to Merci in Paris? You know that lifestyle store that has a design cult following from all over the world…I guess that includes me!

Take a detour, you will be happy you did located at 111 Beaumarchais Boulevard in Le Marias.

Merci never disappoints because they are on the cutting edge of style in fashion as well as home decor.

The vibe…very busy with trendy people from all over the world…coming to see the newest textures, substrates, colors and style updates!

Today at Merci they were designing custom chair tops from a powder substance that allows the customer to design their very own chair on the spot in the store! Pretty awesome, pretty millennial and pretty fast!

The color choices are so vast that each chair has its own personality due to the blending and ombré of color!

MERCI…in Paris

Have you been? To Merci in Paris! You know the lifestyle store that has a cult following from all over the world…which I guess includes me!

Take a detour…you will be happy you did…111 Boulevard Beaumarchais in Le Marais..but really outside the main area of Le Marais…

Merci never disappoints because they are on the cutting edge of style and fashion in both clothing and home decor…the way Barney’s NYC was years ago.

The vibe…very busy with trendy people from all over the world coming to see the newest textures, substrates, colors and style updates. Today they were making chair tops from a powder substance that allows you, the consumer to design your chairs on the spot in the store…pretty awesome, pretty millennial and pretty fast!

So take that detour when in Paris and checkout what’s happening in the world of design…Merci!
